Building Machinery & Equipment Cost Index is an index number that measures the average rate of machinery rental rate and equipment price changes of categorized building machinery and equipment in comparison with that of the reference month.

Applications

Amongst primary applications of BMECI are:

For adjusting machinery and equipment cost variation in building machinery and equipment according to the progress of works by building category involved for compensation or reimbursement in building construction contract

As reference or yardstick to the building contractors as to the up and down trend of building machinery and equipment cost in positioning their risks in tender pricing.

As a judgment tool as to the reasons of increased property prices
